I block off 3 hours every day just to focus and work. No emails, no phone calls, no meetings, just focused work. Doesn't sound like much time, but I get more done this way than a full day of work and distractions.

Your suggestion to plan ahead is essential to productivity. 15 minutes to prioritize gives time to consider what is really important that gets results and what is less important but still needs to be done.
