Where I use to work we always had the secret Santa with a $10 gift that nobody used. We came up with an idea to have everyone donate the $10 and we would Adopt-A-Family through Children's Aid. They give you a bit of info about your family and their wish list. All the secretaries went out on our lunch hour (we were given extra time) and bought the kids what they asked for. Plus our gift from our employer was always a $25.00 gift certificate for a grocery franchise. We all donated ours to the mother and she received over $100 in grocery money. It was the best feeling! We emailed all our fellow employees and let them know what their donations did for this family. It's such a better way to spend your $10!
